With Graham Muspratt

Time

About this event

Graham ‘Muz’ Muspratt is a lifelong modeller as well as a historian of the Southern Railway and even part owns two ex Southern Railway steam locomotives.   He has provided guidance and assistance to model railway manufacturers on Southern Railway matters and now works in the industry as development manager for Kernow Model Rail Centre.

In this talk, illustrated with his own models and virtual guided tour of his layouts Fisherton Sarum and Canute Road Quay, Muz will explore his reasons for modelling the Southern Railway.  In particular, his own 1946 to 1949 time period although he will explore some of the other popular modelling time periods too.

Intensive suburban Electric Multiple Units, Bulleid pacifics, Pullman services and the ‘withered arm’ in the far South West could be said to sum up the Southern, but Graham will show that it was a much more varied and complex railway and offer some thoughts on the how this variety and complexity can be reproduced in model form.

This is a hybrid lecture in person at Keen House and on Zoom.  Please complete the form to the right to indicate you are coming.

Non MRC members are welcome with a suggested donation of £3 either in person or on our virtual coffee page
