About this event
They enjoy it so much I don’t know why I pay them — this was spoken by the late Ian Allan while showing a visitor round the offices of his well-known transport publishing company.
Chris Leigh has been in railway publishing as both author and editor since leaving school in 1 963. This talk looks back on the years since then. I t will touch on his time at Ian Allan with Model Railway Constructor, where he worked alongside many of the great names of the time including Ian Allan
himself, Cecil J and G. Freeman Allen, Geoffrey Kitchenside and Colin Gifford; on Model Rail magazine which he set up in the mid 1 990s; on saving the Kinsol Trestle, the Commonwealth’s largest surviving wooden bridge; and on his wider railway interests including preservation.
