The dome and chimney on Yeo are rather poor painted affairs, as supplied by Heljan. However the chimney is a brass turning, so easily improved with a few strokes of a file and some polishing.

However, the dome is not so easy to remedy. I therefore chopped it out of the boiler, using my milling machine, and remade a segment of that for a proper job.

The dome was then made in the normal way, turned and then ground to shape at the base and polished.

The grinding and polishing tools are as seen in the photo. The mandrel / spigot for holding the fitting in the lathe is also visible.

The end result now looks like a proper job. I may take an impression of he dome before it is fitted…
