About this event

With 850 shareholders, a small core paid staff and a loyal band of volunteers, Southern Locomotives Ltd (SLL) are one of the most productive and efficient restoration groups in Britain.  Since 1982 they have completed a loco restoration, on average, every five years.

Their fleet currently stands at 7 Bulleid pacifics, a BR 4MT tank and two industrial locos.  The illustrated talk covers Bulleid’s work in the 1940s, tells how SLL evolved from 1982 and concludes with SLL’s 2024 decision to work charter trains on the Mainline.

This is a hybrid lecture in person at Keen House and on Zoom.  There is a bar that is open before, after and in the intermission serving a range of snacks of drinks. Please complete the form to the right to indicate if you’d like to join by Zoom.

MRC members and guests are all welcome. A suggested donation of £3 either in person or on our virtual coffee page

Please note there are stairs to the meeting room – anyone with accessibility needs is asked to contact us in advance.
