About this event
Being interested in Trains from an early age, led Lippy to start making Trainspotting trips around the country. (Remember no mobile phones or Internet back then). Gradually going further away from home as he got older.
By the time he was about to leave school, the miners strike was in full swing. He wanted a job on the Railways so told the lady at the job centre that he had heard that BR did a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) – being successful he started in September 1984 working at various locations around Merseyside. By the time it ended in July 85 he was looking for a full time job, but being from over the water (Wirral) they were few and far between. A lucky break came his way and by November 85 he was a Traction Trainee in the line of promotion to being a Driver.
This presentation will include some Video footage as well as Slides of his progression from Trainspotting to Train Driving.
